Merry Christmas from Church of God Laity Ministries
It’s the time of year when we celebrate the birth of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To the right is the Nativity scene that graces the lobby of the Church Ministries Building in Cleveland, TN, where we have our offices.
It’s easy to take the Incarnation for granted, but the whole concept of God coming into the flesh and living among us isn’t an ordinary thing. Muslims insist that it is beneath the honour of God to have a Son, although the Qur’an attributes characteristics to Jesus that are only appropriate for God. Jehovah’s Witnesses deny that Jesus is God altogether. Mormons blur the distinction between men and God.
The New Testament proclaims that “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Galatians 4:4-7)
It is our prayer that you will find the redemption that comes from the Incarnate and Risen Saviour, and if you already have, that you will find the special place in God’s church and work that he has for you.
May God richly bless you this Christmas season and throughout 2009!
